Kathy Hoo graduated from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire (UK) with a Master’s in Performance and Pedagogy. She was under the tutelage of the BBC pianist Mark Bebbington and the former principal of keyboards John Humphrey. This study was undertaken as part of a one year scholarship awarded by the university.
She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree with honors from UCSI University and has also completed LTCL &ATCL certificates. During this time she was under the guidance of Mr. Loo Bang Hean, Dr. Lim Pei Sien, and Ms. Adeline Wong Mei Yi. In 2009 Kathy was selected to perform in a Master Class conducted by Dr. Peter Amstutz at the University of UCSI. She was also the piano accompanist for the winner of the ABRSM Borneo Reeds Competition in 2015.
Kathy has over five years teaching experience and has received very positive feedback from many parents. She taught at Holy Souls Catholic Primary School in Birmingham, Hall Green Junior School, King Edward Girls School and participated in the Birmingham Conservatoire Youth Junior Program. She also taught in Melbourne for one year (2014). Finally, she has worked closely with autistic children in Malaysia and is now a lobby pianist in Sunway Medical Hospital.
