Wani Ismail was born and raised in Malaysia. She graduated from Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD) with a Master in Music Performance for violin in July 2017. Throughout Wani Ismail ’s musical journey, she was a member of the National Youth Symphony Orchestra, Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, as well as ASEAN-Russia Symphony Orchestra where the orchestra performed in Indonesia, Cambodia, Brunei and Myanmar between 2011 to 2014.

Wani Ismail also played for numerous orchestras as a freelance musician in both classical and contemporary settings. While in the UK, Wani Ismail was involved with the Welsh premier of Paul Patterson’s composition for Harp and String Quartet titled Spider’s Web. Wani Ismail has taken violin masterclasses with Dene Olding and Kirsty Hilton, from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Evgeny Zvonnikov from the Orfeo Trio, and Bogdan Bozovic from the Vienna Piano Trio, and attended a Baroque workshop with Rachel Podger. She has also taken chamber music masterclasses with the Apple Tree Hill String Quartet, Prof. Dr. James Miltenberger, and Lillian Green, from the United States, as well as the Haydn String Quartet and The Schubert Ensemble while she was studying in the UK.

Wani Ismail also composes and arranges music, and in June 2014, she attended ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop in New York University, New York. In 2020, she released a composition EP titled Melodies of Life, and in 2021, she released another EP with her quartet group, Amethyst String Quartet, titled Cover Selections, Vol.1, which consists of her arrangements of popular music for string quartet. Both EPs can be found on major streaming platforms.
