Esther Liew

Esther Liew is speech and drama educator, theatre director and screen/stage actor.

Esther discovered her passion for the stage at a young age performing in church. In 2005, she was awarded a gold medal for Solo Acting at the ISKL SEA Forensics Tournament.

Upon returning from England with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Reading, she decided to hone her acting skills further by training under several veterans from the local performing arts scene. In 2018, Esther completed a one-year long rigorous directing training under Theatresauce’s Emerging Directors’ Lab, where she studied world theatre history and also directed three showcases between 2017-2018. In 2019, Esther directed her debut full-length show called DUST, a devised play on life, death and grief. This show premiered at the Five Arts Centre at Taman Tun.

Aside from acting and directing, she is also a speech and drama educator at several private schools and learning centres since 2013. She has facilitated the creative storytelling classes at Pusat Kreatif Kanak-kanak Tuanku Bainun, taught speech and drama at The Academy at KLPAC, Blubricks Learning Studio, Tenby International School, Beaconhouse Sri Lethia, Sri UCSI, Sri Sempurna and Asia Pacific Smart School.
