Estal is an active performer and tutor based in Kuala Lumpur. He is currently a cellist with the Kamerata KL, BACHfest Malaysia, VerSeS Ensemble, Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (MPYO), and KLPAC Orchestra. He also performs with the Malaysia National Symphony Orchestra (OSK/NSO) and UCSI University Symphony Orchestra. Besides performing, Estal pursues his teaching career as a
cello tutor at the British School of Kuala Lumpur (BSKL) and as the coach of Sam Tet Symphony Orchestra (STSO). As a chamber music enthusiast, he founded the SYNC Chamber, a chamber music initiative based in Kuala Lumpur.
Estal has won multiple awards as a cellist and as an orchestra conductor. He conducted the STSO and has led the orchestra to winning awards in competitions such as the Malaysia International Music Arts Festival (MIMAF) and Osaka International Music Arts Festival. As a cellist, he won a Gold Prize and an Outstanding Musicality Award in the Franz Schubert International Classical Music Competition 2022 followed by a Third Prize in London International Music Competition in 2023.
Estal graduated with first class honours from UCSI University, where he studied classical cello performance under the guidance of Stephen Johnson-Tseu and Elizabeth Tan. He is also the first Malaysian who was chosen to study at the Cello Akademie Rutesheim in Germany under the tutelage of Attila Pasztor in 2019. Later, Estal also studied under Professor HeeYoung Lim in 2021 at the Euro Arts Academy. He then returned to the Cello Akademie Rutesheim in 2022 to perform with the festival cello orchestra. He was selected as an active participant for the conducting programme at Rondofest 2023 and conducted the festival orchestra under the guidance of Dr. Lien Boon Hua. Estal is currently pursuing his cello performance study with Professor HeeYoung Lim. In October 2023, he will be returning to Cello Akademie Rutesheim to study with Jakob Spahn.
