Ryan Lim is a classically-trained musician that started his musical journey at the age of 8, learning piano under the tutorage of Mr Lam Siu Chong. He then joined the school band at the age of 9 as a percussionist and has played with wind orchestras for nearly 10 years. Ryan was introduced to the cello at the age of 13, juggling between multiple instruments and staying active in the school orchestra as well as the Petaling Jaya Philharmonic Orchestra (PJPO).
With proper guidance and hard work, Ryan has achieved his Associate Diploma of Trinity College London (ATCL) for both piano and cello in 2015 and 2018 respectively. He was also a scholarship recipient while pursuing his Bachelor of Classical Music (Hons) in UCSI University, majoring the cello under the tutorage of Mr Stephen Tseu Tze Jie and graduated in the year 2022.
Ryan has a passion for music performance and education with more than 15 years of learning and performing experiences, performing with professional and community orchestras, chamber music groups, choir groups, as well as solo recitals. He was involved in performances by Malaysia National Symphony Orchestra (NSO), Tutan Festival Orchestra, Disney in Concert by Red Carpet Management, Yin Qi Choir, Lollapalooza Singers, Selangor Symphony Orchestra (SSO), Penang Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO), and UCSI Symphony Orchestra.
Aside from performing in orchestras, he is also an active member of The Cello Choir, a community of cellists founded in 2020, with the aim of providing an educational experience as well as a performing platform for cellists of all ages.
Having met great teachers that shaped his musical journey and career, Ryan is an enthusiastic educator that aims to inspire and ignite passion for learning and playing music.
